Kind People
Richard
Richard has a BA in Graphic Design and an MA in Sequential Design and illustration. He worked for the
University of Brighton for 7 years producing the annual prospectus and other printed material. He was a
freelance designer for 5 years and is now Creative Director at Kind Design. Richard has a passion for film
making and is currently working on a learn to surf DVD. He has recently completed a film about a night
shelter in Blackpool and a film for Wormwood Scrubs Prison. Richard is skilled in graphic design and
print production story boarding, filmmaking, direction and post-production.
Zoe
Zoe has a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Sequential Design and Illustration. Zoe worked for design agencies in Brighton and Glasgow specialising in interactive design before becoming the senior designer, and then Director, at Kind Design. Zoe developed an innovative interactive learning programme for Road Safety Scotland to teach special-needs teenagers about the dangers of crossing the road. This project was directed by Zoe from the initial concept through to the final resource. Intense user-testing sessions with special-needs teenagers were essential to ensure the resource was successful. Zoe now project manages and designs print and web based projects for Kind Design. Zoe is also a competent illustrator and has 10 years experience in the design industry.
Carol
Carol has a BA in Graphic Design and Communication. She began working as a designer in 1989 for
a book publishers, Dorling Kindersley and later as a freelance designer she worked on magazines such
as Vogue, Elle, Elle Decoration, Glamour, Tatler, Cosmopolitan, Ground Force and Garden Inspirations.
Carol then took the position of Art Editor of Manchester United magazine, (Britain’s Biggest selling
sports monthly) and Chelsea Magazine. After great success with these magazines she was asked to go to
Rome to set up a similar publication for AS Roma football club and was able to initiate and implement
new concepts of design and high quality not yet seen on the Italian football magazine market. Within
six months the magazine was in a highly profitable and successful position. Carol moved back to the UK
to work as Art director on special editions for Q, Mojo, and Kerrang music magazines.
Moving out of London to Woolacombe Carol now works for Kind Design on all their printed material and works as a massage therapist in her spare time.
Mat
Mat is employed by Kind Design on a freelance basis when web development skills are needed. Mat is
highly experienced in producing content management driven websites that look and perform beautifully.
Mat is a perfectionist and keeps up to date with search engine optimisation techniques to ensure high
rankings. He is passionate about accessibility guidelines when building websites.
Geoff
Geoff has 20 years experience in illustration. He works for a number of top design agencies in London
for example: The Partners, Pentagram, Design Bridge, Williams Murray Ham and Lewis Moberly. He has
produced illustration for clients such as Decca Records, Abbot Ale, Boddingtons, Boots, Famous Grouse,
Heals and WH Smith. He is commissioned by Kind Design when projects require an illustrative solution.
Steve
Steve is an illustrator and animator. He is excellent at coming up with unique ideas, planning projects,
and storytelling. Steve trained as a graphic designer and spent 5 years working with Aardman animation
on animations such as “Danger Mouse”. He works for Kind Design on the print based material and
branding solutions, playing a key role in brainstorming techniques and story boarding for narrative and
sequentially based projects.
Diana
Diana has worked as a public relations consultant and writer for twenty years. She has worked in-house, in agencies and freelance across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Her diverse experience includes health and social care, education, business-to-business, environmental issues, information technology and fast-moving consumer goods. Recent communications projects include service redesign in the NHS, student recruitment in higher education and charity fundraising. She is a skilled copywriter, editor and proofreader and is currently studying for an MA in Multimedia Journalism and the NCTJ Diploma. Diana also has a BA, MA and DPhil in Philosophy which informs her strategic approach to communications.
Diana is a keen vegetable grower and prides herself on being able to harvest crops all year round. Diana also loves swimming in the sea and playing the piano.
